Where do the maps come from? We use the US Geological Survey (USGS) base map, a modern, topological street map. These maps include most major roads and names many—but not all!— streets, towns, cities, lakes, streams, and major points of interest.
My address is in a new development. How old are the maps? We use data sets from 2014, 2015, and 2016.
How much area will my puzzle cover? The map will cover six miles east to west and four miles north to south. You can use an online mapping service like Google Maps to get a general idea of what will be included in that area.
Will my street name be visible? Not always. USGS marks more than 7.1 million miles of roads in these datasets and labels a great many of them. However, they need to find a balance between labeling roads, but still having room to show other local info like neighborhood names and local landmarks.
My puzzle isn’t centered correctly. What happened? In some rural areas, the geocoding engines we use cannot site center using a street address and zip code as accurately as it can with more densely developed urban areas. It doesn’t happen often, but if your house is off center, just contact us with the latitude and longitude of your chosen center point and we can recreate the puzzle to that exact location. Search the web for “what is my latitude and longitude” to find several sites that can help you find this information.
