Description
In Rajasthan, India, women's bright saris stand out against the muted colors of the desert landscape, competing only with the brilliance of the setting sun. These hues are the inspiration for a traditional bandhini scarf, a type of tie dye that has been practiced in India since at least the 6th century. Silk fabric is pleated, squeezed, and stitched at intervals, then hand-dyed. When the fabric dries, the stitches are removed, leaving unique patterns in the crinkled fabric and ensuring that no two scarves are exactly alike. Finished with hand-knotted shuttle lace trim.
