Apparel sizing is determined by the designers and manufacturers of each item. We assign numerical equivalents to help make comparison easier. That’s why in one style an XL is a 18–20, while in another style an XL is a 16.

The best way to find your fit is to take a similar, well-fitting garment in your closet, lay it flat, and measure its dimensions. Compare those measurements to the ones in our online size charts to find the size that’s most likely to suit you.

Keep an eye out for fit notes in the product description, where we'll let you know if an item tends to run large, or has a pleat you might not notice in the photo.

EXTENDED SIZES

Not all of the producers we work with offer extra small or plus sizes. We try to favor those who do, and we try to persuade those who don’t. As Petalura grows, so does our ability to convince small and international workshops to invest in offering a broader range of sizes.

We aren’t currently able to offer a “shop by size” option on our site. For a quick look at everything currently available in any plus sizes (we define that as US 18 and larger), check out this collection.
