For more than 30 years, the Basu family have brought handcrafted, wearable works of art to the world through their Anuschka handbags. They’re equally committed to providing a stable income, healthcare, education, and supportive community for the artisans they employ.
Roma Basu works daily with artists and helps develop new designs and hand-painted techniques. Her husband Swapan brings an eye for premium leather cowhide and flawless stitching. Today their son Bhaskar is CEO and leads the design team, inspired by his travels to churches and temples, museums and shops, forests and mountains—and by the vibrant community of artisans that make up the Basu team.
We’re proud to offer some of our favorite pieces from their original Anuschka line, which means “like no other.” These wearable works of art are painstakingly hand-painted by the studio’s most experienced master artisans.
