Long revered as the patron saint of animals and nature, St. Francis of Assisi is also the patron saint of ecology. Our wish is for people of any faith or tradition to find inspiration and hope in St. Francis’s model of careful stewardship and respect for the natural world.
This rustic wooden santos depicts St. Francis in a robe adorned with flowers, accompanied by a spotted cat and birds that have perched to hear his preaching. Carved using only hand tools in multigenerational Mayan Quiche workshop in Chichicastenango, Guatemala.
Please note: St. Francis’s arm arrives detached for shipping. Just gently push it back together and adjust as you like. Colors may vary slightly with this handcrafted work of folk art.
Loved it. I gave it to a friend as a gift and she loved it. Colorful, well done and very unique.
The arm comes separate and is suppose to slide in the drilled hole. No way it would fit. So disappointing. Otherwise the piece was very colorful and I would have enjoyed.
