Long revered as the patron saint of animals and nature, St. Francis of Assisi is also the patron saint of ecology. Our wish is for people of any faith or tradition to find inspiration and hope in St. Francis’s model of careful stewardship and respect for the natural world.
This rustic wooden santos depicts St. Francis in a robe adorned with flowers, accompanied by a spotted cat and birds that have perched to hear his preaching. Carved using only hand tools in multigenerational Mayan Quiche workshop in Chichicastenango, Guatemala.
Please note: St. Francis’s arm arrives detached for shipping. Just gently push it back together and adjust as you like. Colors may vary slightly with this handcrafted work of folk art.
Beautiful colors (I bought the coral) and I really like the rustic look of this carving. The only drawback is it’s a little too rustic. The detachable arm barely stays in the hole (a quick fix with a little toothpick keeps it firmly attached). Overall, I am looking forward to giving this as a gift to a real animal lover.
Love them in our mountain house with folk art.
These look exactly as they do in the catalog and provide a nice addition to the mantel.
Love the quality and combination rustic/artistic look.
St. Francis Santos sits on my kitchen window sill and brings his bright and cheerful colors to make all those that see him smile! Nicely made and painted. I love it.
