Take a closer look at these enchanting designs. You’ll notice they incorporate the “hamsa” or open right hand motif, believed by many to be a symbol of good fortune and defense against evil. Every time you light them be reminded of the women in Bredasdorp, South Africa who painstakingly craft them. Many support children and extended families through their craft, which is significant in a region with limited opportunities for sustainable work. Each candle is handmade using unscented paraffin wax and nontoxic color pigments. Candlesticks not included.
The wax ran down the candles, over the candlesticks and stained my tablecloth blue. I think I got most of it out with bleach but next time I will put the candlesticks on plates.
