Turquoise howlite is a stone of awareness, according to believers in crystal healing. And ancient Greeks believed that amber was sunshine made solid. The two gems, outlined here in sterling silver, offer a reminder to always be open to the possibility of light in the world. The bolo clasp is simple to adjust with one hand, and on-trend to boot.
Legends about the glow of amber span all cultures and eras. The ancient Greeks thought of amber as sunshine made solid, one of the many gifts that Penelope’s suitors tried to woo her with in Homer’s Odyssey. The Greek word for amber is elektron, from which we get the English electricity, because amber can hold a static charge. In early Chinese cultures, amber was what became of a tiger’s soul after death. Vikings believed that amber carved in the shape of an animal contained that animal’s strength. The fact that natural amber often has small leaves, insects, and other inclusions trapped within it certainly must have supported these beliefs. Romantic myths and legends aside, the truth is that amber is the fossilized resin of trees that existed millions of years ago. People are often surprised at how lightweight and warm to the touch amber is, believing it to be a gemstone. But like pearl and jet, amber is actually one of a few “stones” that are actually organic. Available in shades from honey to straw to cherry to mahogany, with bubbles and inclusions or without, as natural chips or perfectly polished shapes, amber adds a touch of warmth and a natural glow to any outfit.
This was my second purchase from Petalura, and I’m just blown away by their process! Received my bracelet in record time - beautifully packaged! Was apprised of my order’s arrival, the shipment, tracking number - all super well-done. The bracelet is just as pictured - and I love the slider to adjust its fit! The delicate silver chain and the size/color of the stones is lovely - and will go with many outfits for many occasions. I have narrow wrists - and feel like a delicate flower, like a tiny princess wearing this bracelet. Highly recommend not only the bracelet, but (based on other online purchases), other Petalura items.
I was excited to receive this bracelet but when it arrived, it was way too small - definitely sized for a small child and not a woman. The stones are beautiful and the styling delicate - it would have been a complement to my Fall wardrobe but I returned it. This was my first experience with Petalura so I am not impressed.
A gift for graduation from 8th grade. The adjustable bracelet is perfect for a growing girl. The thank you note said it had become a “wardrobe staple “.
